Invercarglill Airport is an air-conditioned, dedicated international designated airport located 1.7 km east of the Central Business District of Invercargllt in the north-west corner of South Island's South Island. It is the sixth busiest airport in the country and is also New Zealand's third busiest airport. It is served by both international and domestic flights. Invercullt is situated close to the Inland Sea, which is why the airport is also referred to as the Inland Sea International Airport.

The airport is equipped with a large, free-standing terminal building and the airport's main terminal building is named the John Gorman Terminal Building. The terminal buildings are connected by underground tunnels. The main terminal building features three terminals. The main terminal consists of a passenger service area and baggage and freight loading ramp. The passenger service area houses a baggage reclaim service, a baggage carousel and an information desk.

The first and second terminals have separate service areas with two baggage reclaim service services, two baggage carousels and an information desk. There are two free-standing terminals located on either side of the main terminal building. An open-air shopping complex known as the Ponsonby Village is located directly behind the airport building on the north side of Ponsonby Road. The Ponsonby Village is an indoor mall and a large number of restaurants and hotels are located nearby.

The Invercullt Airport also has access to a high-speed broadband internet connection, a telephone line and a bus depot. The Inland Sea Waterfront Bus Depot is one of the busiest bus depots in New Zealand and offers a number of buses serving a variety of destinations throughout the Inland Sea region.

Inverlill is situated close to Inverloch, Christchurch, Otago and Dunedin. It is a very accessible airport and it's one of the fastest airports in the country which provide direct flights to Dunedin, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Christchurch.
